To date, there have been numerous strategy sessions, workshops, and opportunities for involvement for all interested. It is going to be an incredible development, as those involved want to use the farm to provide opportunities for low-cost housing while developing a truly ecologically sustainable space to be. Already parts of the farm have been planted out, with greenhouses provided by Bath Council dismantled in Bath and put up in Bristol by volunteers. Recently the farm has accommodated six street goats to the pleasure of young and old. The master planning of the site has been underway, helping to bring out the key priorities and objectives of the project. All those involved have had opportunities to feed in through sub-groups, steering groups, and design meetings. Recently AVAG was awarded funding through Homes England under the Community-Led Housing programme and has now recruited two fantastic project managers Tony Baker and Guido Meloni, to help pick up the pace of both cost viability of the different options for the site, and to push forward on a planning application for the farm over the next few months. If you are interested in poking your nose in and to see what the site is all about, the best way to do that is to pop down there on a Friday evening between 4pm and 7pm, where you will be able to pick up a wood-fired delicious pizza, as well as pick up your weekly shop of fruit and veg, and having the opportunity to speak with some of those involved in the great ambience of the old barn.
