UWE real estate students have a tour of The Yard in Ashley Vale

Ecomotive recently hosted a tour of the Ashley Vale self build, for a group of students from the University of the West of England's foundation year course in construction, property and surveying. Students from this course would go on to study degrees in real estate, building surveying, quantity surveying and property development, and we were pleased to be able to showcase community-led housing and collective self build as alternative models of development.

All of these disciplines will need to evolve quickly to take into account the changing political and regulatory contexts associated with the increasingly recognised Climate Emergency, as well as responding more creatively to the housing crisis, so we hope that this visit will help the students to broaden their understanding of the range of options available when planning and implementing new developments into the future. Thanks to Dr Louise King and all the students for an interesting morning!
