I was talking to my manager about self-built houses and the price of land.
He told me that a few years ago, he had seriously looked into the matter and came to the conclusion that buying a plot of land with a built house on it was cheaper, even if you'd demolished the house and started again.
Anybody came to the same conclusion?

I guess there are so many variables that this could well be the case for some circumstances.
There are a lot of developers who buy up a house with a large garden, put in for planning for a house in the garden and when that come through, selling up the original house...for more or less the same price they bought it for....and as if by magic, a very cheap building plot.
Every plot needs to be assessed in its own right.
